Hot Springs are Healthy
While there are many Hot Springs across the Country and the World, there is only one Hot Springs National Park. This land was the first federally protected land, predating that National Park System by over 40 years. The healing properties were utilized for thousands of years by Native Americans, and by Americans and visitors ever since.
There are Three central pillars to why Hot Springs is a great place for wellness. The first is the National Park. Hot Springs is a town literally inside of the National Park. You can literally walk five minutes and be walking on the trails. The air is fresh from the Ouachita Forests, but you can also walk right down the street for lunch, dinner, drinks, and entertainment.
The second is the water. Hot Springs is famous for the Hot Mineral Water, that comes from deep underground, scalding hot. It is so hot that the National Park has to cool it down before making it available to visitors. You can experience the Hot water on Bathhouse Row, by filling up your jugs for free at the fountains, or by visiting one of the Bathhouses for a relaxing and healing Spa bath. There are also cold water wells, which offer free, refreshing, virgin mineral water. This is increasingly important, given that municipal water in many cities can be polluted with nano-plastics, agriculture or pharmaceutical runoff, and fluoride.
The third reason why Hot Springs is the ultimate wellness retreat is the Crystals. Hot Springs is built on top of a massive underground crystal mine. The water is literally crystal water, filtered underground by crystals, and are literally what the crystals are made of. The earth here vibrates with the frequency of quartz. You can visit the crystal mine to see museum quality crystals, and even dig for crystals yourself.
Hot Springs is built on wellness. Read on to learn more about what makes Hot Springs the most unique wellness retreat!
Water is Life
The healing properties of the natural mineral water have been utilized for thousands of years, and were the original impetus to the foundation of Hot Springs. The more we learn about water, the more clear it becomes, how profound the healing truly is.
Hot Springs has 47 natural mineral springs, and each has a particular chemical composition of natural minerals. Today, the water is sterilized and processed and only distributed on Bathhouse Row.
One of the properties that makes the hot mineral water unique, is a very slight radioactivity, from the decay of Radon deep underground. The radioactivity level is very low and safe. Doctors have likened the radiation levels as similar UV rays during to sunbathing.
“There are two clinical benefits to radon water; first it has an anti-inflammatory effect – we know that it reduces inflammation. The second one is it has a direct algetic effect, it can work like a painkiller with a similar effect to morphine, but one that can last a far longer time,” Jindrich Masik, the head physician at Radium Palace tells BBC Future from his spotless examination room.
Cold Springs
Because of the radiation, drinking large amounts of Hot Water can have mild side effects for some people. We recommend drinking from the Cold Water Springs... plus it is much more refreshing in the Summer!
There are two cold water springs - and Whittington is just a few minutes walk from Majestic Magnolia. The Cold mineral water is refreshing and delicious, and Garland County is home to the Famous Mountain Valley Spring Water Company. In fact, Captain G.G. Latta was a cofounder of Mountain Valley Water!
One of the problems with tap water is that is contains different compounds that not everyone wants. Fluoride, for example, is not added to the water straight from the well. Standard Brita-type filters do not filter Fluoride. Reverse-Osmosis filtration systems will remove all minerals, which is not healthy for the water either.
When you visit Hot Springs, make sure to bring your jugs to fill up! This is a great place for a water cleanse, and to experience the healing qualities of water that has been filtered by the Earth of the National Park for over 5,000 years. And it is also literally Crystal Water!
Crystals
Crystal have been used for healing and spiritual purposes for thousands of years. Hot Springs is home to some of the most magnificent crystal mines in the World. Many know that this is the only place in North America with Diamonds, but is is also the only place in the Northern Hemisphere with Optical Grade Quartz Crystal! (The other place is Brazil, where they are not as tourist friendly). You can dig for crystals yourself just a short drive from Majestic Magnolia! We have a partnership with the mine and can offer discounted passes.
When you go to the mine you will be amazed, that there are crystals everywhere! There are few things as exciting as digging up a crystal that has never been seen or touched before.
The crystals formed over millions of years, from deposits of the natural mineral spring water. So the mineral water you drink here, has been filtered by crystals, possibly giving it the living vibrations that can have healing benefits.
The popularity of healing crystal has exploded in recent years, and Hot Springs is the Crystal Capital.
Crystals have a very unique quality - they are Piezo-electric. It is this quality that gives crystals their healing qualities, and also what makes them so important for electronics. There are two important qualities.
1 - When electricity is run through a crystal, it vibrates at a specific frequency. For Clear Quartz Crystal, that is 32768 Hz. It is this exact frequency that allowed for the invention of the Quartz Clock. A watch literally has a small piece of quartz, that vibrates at this exact frequency, keeping accurate time.
2- When Pressure is applied to a crystal, it creates a special type of electricity called 'Piezoelectricity'.
Interestingly, we still know very little about piezoelectricity!!
But it could be the reason why people like to hold crystals in their hands - they may actually be generating electricity!
Orgone
In the early 1900's some scientists tried to define 'Orgone' as a type of electricity in the air, that gives people energy. They sought to make "Orgone Generators" to help with healing. While much of the theories have been unproven by modern science, 'Orgonite' does utilize the principles of piezoelectricity, by pressurizing crystals into epoxy. Regardless of the provability or existence of 'Orgone', the physical properties of piezoelectricity are proven and utilized in Orgonite.
Hot Springs Built on Crystal Mines
The Crystal mines' location suggest that Hot Springs could in fact, be built on top of a massive crystal mine deep underground. Following the principles of piezoelectricity, that would create an energy through the earth. That energy permeate through the National Park and in the healing waters therefrom. Maybe the Early Americans could feel that, urging them to Designate Hot Springs Reservation? Many visitors to Hot Springs say that they can feel the energy or frequency coming from the Mountains. That could very well be Piezolelectricity generated deep underground.
